What is Bindii?
Bindii is a winter annual with a low growing, rosette forming growth habit. It is a difficult to control weed that roots at the nodes to form additional rosettes.
Bindii plants feature small compound leaves resemble the foliage of carrot plants upon close inspection, though are closely bunched together to form a dense mass around the centre of the rosette. The seed head is produced from the centre of the rosette and is a compact mass of sheet like seeds that taper to a spike. The seeds are typically small and inconspicuous until spring when the plant matures and the seeds harden and stick into shoes or feet.
While bindii is normally not noticed until late in the season, control is best achieved earlier on in the life cycle, when the weed is actively growing and before seeds begin to harden.
