Burr medic is a low growing winter annual with a sprawling, creeping growth habit. The trifoliate compound leaf consists of three heart-shaped leaves up to 20mm long, all joined at tapered ends to form a clover-like leaf structure. Burr medic derives its name from the small burr-like seed head that is produced following flowering in early spring. The burrs form as a small green-brown spiky clumps containing 1-6 seeds tightly coiled in a springy structure. Seeds are spread through traffic and human contact.
