Ryder® Turf Pigment is a green turf pigment designed to enhance turf appearance while providing protection from excessive light intensity and harmful UV radiation. It delivers a deep, natural green colour with flexible rate options, allowing turf managers to adjust colour intensity to suit seasonal conditions, turf type, and management objectives.
Beyond visual improvement, Ryder works within the plant to support turf health across both cool- and warm-season turfgrass species, making it a practical tool for managing turf quality during periods of environmental stress.
Key Benefits of Ryder Turf Pigment
Ryder delivers a long-lasting, natural-looking green colour that improves turf uniformity and overall presentation without compromising turf safety. It is suitable for use on all turf species and can be used confidently across a wide range of managed turf environments.
In addition to colour enhancement, Ryder helps protect turf from UV radiation and excessive light stress, supporting plant performance during high-light periods. The result is improved turf appearance alongside added physiological protection, rather than colour alone.
How Ryder® Turf Pigment Works
Ryder is a green-coloured phthalocyanine compound with a molecular structure similar to chlorophyll. Once applied, Ryder absorbs, reflects, and transmits excessive and harmful UV radiation, working alongside the plant’s naturally produced pigments that scatter and screen damaging light.
Using advanced, high-concentration pigment technology, Ryder effectively mimics naturally occurring turf pigments. This allows it to reduce light stress while maintaining a consistent green appearance, even under intense sunlight or high UV exposure.
Tank Mix Compatibility and Turf Performance
Ryder is an effective tank-mix partner with foliar fertilisers, often delivering improved turf quality compared to fertiliser applications alone. It is also compatible with the Syngenta pesticide range, helping improve spray coverage across the leaf surface while maintaining product safety and performance.
Application Timing and Use Rates
Application rate selection should be based on desired colour intensity, turf height of cut, and the level of UV or light stress present. Higher rates provide deeper colour and increased protection, particularly on higher cut turf or during periods of elevated light intensity.
The immediate colour response from Ryder also acts as a visual spray pattern indicator, helping ensure even coverage during application. For best results, applications should be made using Syngenta XC nozzles at a 50 cm nozzle height with a carrier volume of 250–500 L/ha. Where turf is maintained at higher mowing heights, two applications at half rate applied in alternate directions can improve leaf coverage.
Ryder is rainfast within one hour of application.
Recommended application rates:
-
Turf under 12 mm height of cut (greens, tees, approaches, bowling greens, cricket squares): 0.75–1.5 L/ha
-
Turf above 12 mm height of cut (fairways, sports fields, cricket outfields): 1.0–2.0 L/ha
Where to Use Ryder® Turf Pigment
Ryder® Turf Pigment is suitable for use across a wide range of managed turf environments where visual quality, surface performance, and protection from light stress are important. It can be safely used on both cool- and warm-season turfgrass species.
Ryder is ideally suited to:
-
Golf course greens, tees, fairways, and surrounds
-
Sports fields and stadium turf
-
Bowling greens and fine turf surfaces
-
Cricket squares and outfields
-
Parks, recreational turf, and high-profile landscape areas
Its flexible rate structure allows Ryder to be adapted to different mowing heights, seasonal conditions, and management objectives, making it a reliable solution for maintaining turf colour and quality throughout the year, particularly during periods of high UV exposure or environmental stress.
