How Primo® 250 EC Works

Primo 250 EC works by regulating plant growth, slowing excessive leaf and stem elongation while allowing the turf to maintain density, colour, and surface quality. Managing growth in this way helps turf managers maintain consistent playing conditions while reducing inputs associated with mowing and clipping removal.

Application Timing and Rate Variation

Primo 250 EC can be used continuously and safely for up to 12 months of the year, provided turf is actively growing. To maintain a consistent regulation effect, it is essential to track turf growth rates and adjust application rates accordingly throughout the season.

For example, the first spring application on a couch fairway should be applied at the lower end of the recommended rate for Common Couch, such as 0.4 L/ha starting in the second week of September. As seasonal growth accelerates, application rates can be increased, for example 0.6–0.75 L/ha during January.

Mixing and Compatibility

Primo 250 EC is an emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation with minimal odour. It mixes completely with water and may be tank mixed with many commonly used fungicides and liquid fertilisers.

Primo 250 EC is compatible with products such as Heritage Maxx®, Daconil Weather Stik®, and Monument® Liquid. However, physical compatibility does not guarantee turf safety. For example, while Primo 250 EC is compatible with broadleaf herbicides containing MCPA, 2,4-D, or dicamba, some tank mixes may cause transient yellowing after application.
