Javelin Selective Herbicide is an effective solution for turf managers, landscapers, and groundskeepers seeking reliable broadleaf weed control in professional turf environments. Formulated with a powerful combination of three active ingredients – clopyralid (20 g/L), diflufenican (15 g/L), and MCPA (300 g/L), Javelin delivers outstanding control of a wide spectrum of common turf weeds while maintaining excellent turf safety.
Designed for use across both cool and warm season turf varieties, Javelin provides long-lasting residual activity, making it ideal for early-season applications where pre-germination suppression can prevent new weed infestations.
Weeds Controlled by Javelin Herbicide
Javelin provides targeted control of the most common and difficult-to-manage turf broadleaf weeds, including:
- White Clover (Trifolium repens)
- Plantain (Plantago lanceolata)
- Capeweed (Arctotheca calendula)
- Cat’s Ear (Hypochoeris radicata)
- Bindii / Jo-Jo / Onehunga Weed (Soliva sessilis)
- Cudweed (Gnaphalium spp.)
- Creeping Oxalis (Oxalis corniculata)
Key Features and Benefits of Javelin Herbicide
- Outstanding broad-spectrum weed control – Effective against a wide range of turf broadleaf weeds including white clover, bindii, creeping oxalis, capeweed, plantain, cudweed, and cat’s ear.
- Three-way active synergy – Combines clopyralid, diflufenican, and MCPA for enhanced efficacy and residual control.
- Excellent turf safety – Suitable for use on both cool season and warm season turfgrasses.
- Residual pre-germination effect – Provides ongoing protection and reduces reinfestation of susceptible weeds.
- Low environmental impact – Low active ingredient application rates with an S5 scheduling for safer handling, mixing, and application.
- Non-ester formulation – Reduces risk of off-target damage.
- User convenience – No additional surfactants required for most applications.
- Odourless formulation – Improves operator comfort and suitability for use in public environments.
Application Guidelines for Javelin Herbicide
- Rate of application: Apply Javelin at 4–5 L/ha to actively growing weeds. Use the lower rate for smaller, younger weeds.
- Water volume: 200–500 L water/ha.
- Weed death timeframe: Complete control may take up to six weeks, with faster results seen on smaller weeds.
- Mixing instructions: Shake container before use, agitate continuously during mixing, and only prepare enough product for the day’s work. A surfactant may be added for hard-to-wet weeds.
Important Considerations When Using Javelin Herbicide
- Turf clippings from treated areas should not be used as mulch or in compost.
- Slight discolouration may occur on kikuyu, carpet grass, and Queensland blue couch.
- Buffalo turf (e.g., ST85) may show more pronounced effects – test on small areas before large-scale use.
- Overseeding caution – Due to the residual activity of diflufenican, overseeding within three months of application may affect turfgrass establishment.
- Avoid overlapping spray passes to prevent exceeding recommended rates.
